|This year’s conference is held on the campus of Maine Maritime Academy. Located in the lovely seacoast village of Castine in Downeast Maine, the academy is a leader in maritime training and education, with programs in engineering, management, transportation, nautical and ocean science.
The 35-acre campus is located on Penobscot Bay on a peninsula surrounded by water and rich in French and American history, ocean scenery and natural wildlife. Facilities include several lecture and residence halls, technical training facilities and the T.S. State of Maine, a former Naval oceanographic research vessel that is now used as a training ship. Located only 40 miles from Bangor, the academy is driving distance from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Baxter State Park, the art and boating communities of Blue Hill Peninsula, and the historic towns and villages along scenic Rt. 1 of coastal Maine.
Conference events will be held primarily in Leavitt Hall, including the Delano Auditorium and various meeting rooms and lecture halls. Weather permitting, some workshops may include an outside component. A map of conference events and locations will be available closer to the conference date and will be included in each participant’s folder along with other conference materials.
