kate-braestrup120x131The Rev. Kate Braestrup is a Unitarian Universalist community minister. She serves as a chaplain to the Maine (Forest) Warden Service and works with search-and-rescue teams in the Maine woods. She is the author of two memoirs, Here If You Need Me, a New York Times bestseller, and Marriage and Other Acts of Charity, a novel, Onion, and a book on prayer, Beginner’s Grace: Bringing Prayer Back to Life. Her essays have appeared in the New York Times, the Boston Globe, O, (The Oprah Magazine) and Good Housekeeping, among other publications. A popular speaker, she has touched and entertained audiences across the United States and abroad with her characteristic honesty, sensitivity and humor. Rev. Braestrup was a speaker at the 2012 Downeast Spiritual Life Conference.
sally_clinton120x131Sally Clinton began her journey with yoga as a teenager, exploring metaphysics, spirituality and conscious living that grew out of a deep Reverence for Life. Sally has a degree in human ecology, is a registered Yoga teacher, Certified Breathwork Facilitator, Ayurvedic Holistic Health Practitioner and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist. She has completed studies with internationally recognized teachers from various traditions, including a Clinical Ayurvedic Studies program with renowned Ayurvedic physician Dr. Vasant Lad. Sally founded Ayushri Yoga, Ayurveda & Wellness in Blue Hill, Maine, and offers individual health and wellness coaching, seasonal cleanses, group programs, workshops and classes that incorporate spiritual teachings and the practical application of Yoga and Ayurveda.
george_emlen_thumbGeorge Emlen is a conductor, composer, arranger and song leader. He has directed choral ensembles in churches, schools, communities and theatrical productions across his 50-year career. A graduate of Dartmouth, George earned a Master of Music in choral conducting at the New England Conservatory of Music. He has been on the faculty of the New England Conservatory and Lesley University and has taught at Noble and Greenough School. For 30 years, he has been music director of Revels, a musical-theatrical experience that has been celebrating the winter solstice with powerful and magical performances of The Christmas Revels. Revels brings people together to celebrate the power of traditional song, dance, storytelling and seasonal rituals from cultures around the world.
farrow-noble120x131Chris Farrow-Noble is a certified Veriditas labyrinth facilitator, writer, teacher, photographer, singer, dream-worker and seeker. She has created labyrinths in Chartres, France, Cambridge, Mass., and on the Isle of Iona in Scotland. Spending a week on Iona in 2013 deepened her awareness of Celtic spirituality, pilgrimage and community. She offers monthly labyrinth walks on her seven-circuit classic field-mown labyrinth in Brooksville, Maine, in which she integrates labyrinth history, design, potential uses, and the uniqueness of each person’s walk. As part of her personal spiritual practice, Chris is committed to walking a daily labyrinth in 2014 and journaling the experience. She is nearing completion of her first young adult novel with a connecting thread of labyrinths.
JenPerruzzi120x131Jenny Perruzzi is a certified Zentangle® instructor and owns and operates Acadia Laser Creations, a retail craft store in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Her artistic journey began 20 years ago with the discovery of rubber stamps and she has encouraged creativity in others ever since, including teaching art classes at her store. Zentangle®, an easy-to-learn and relaxing art form that increases focus, creativity and inspiration, has been an exciting addition to her creative life, enabling her to share a relaxing, mindful and enjoyable art form with people of all ages. In 2013, several of Jenny’s tangled pieces were featured in The Beauty of Zentangle, a book that showcased the work of Zentangle® artists from around the world.
dana_sawyer120x131Prof. Dana Sawyer is a professor of religion and philosophy at the Maine College of Art and was an adjunct professor of Asian religions at the former Bangor Theological Seminary. He has published numerous papers and authored several books and articles, including Aldous Huxley: A Biography. His authorized biography of Huston Smith, noted scholar and author of The World’s Religions, will be published in the Spring of 2014. Dana has been to India 11 times and has traveled extensively throughout the subcontinent. A popular lecturer, he has spoken at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, Banaras Hindu University, the University of Riga, Latvia, the Huntington Library, and at colleges and conferences throughout the United States.
betty-stookey162x162The Rev. Betty Stookey is a teacher and ordained minister of the United Church of Christ. Hers is a multi-faith vision that appreciates, honors and respects the truth and traditions of other beliefs, and sees expressions of the Divine through many spiritual leaders. She and husband Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary), host One Light, Many Candles, a program of readings and music that reflects the diversity and integrity of individual faith, while seeking a global spiritual community. Betty believes that we must seek to overcome our differences and embrace our commonality without fear of losing our spiritual integrity.
