Lodging at the Schoodic Institute

NOTE:  After Friday, July 7, the Schoodic Institute will only accept phone requests for lodging. Please call 207-288-1337 or 207-288-1356. Rooms will be on an “as available” basis. In addition, the Institute can no longer accept meal reservations after July 7.


The Schoodic Institute offers a variety of on-site accommodations and dining options for conference participants. All lodging reservations are managed directly by the Institute’s hospitality staff, not by conference staff.

Contact the hospitality staff Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern at 207-288-1337 or 207-288-1356. The main information line for the Institute is 207-288-1310.

The conference’s unreserved rooms were made available to the public on June 15. After that date, rooms may only be reserved on an “as-available” basis.

Room Options

Lodging at the Institute is best described as “housekeeping” cottages. These are not hotel rooms. Formerly base housing for a U.S. Navy installation, the units have been renovated and upgraded to be both comfortable and attractive.

Lodging options vary in price based on the accommodation selected and the sharing option chosen; however, special rates have been negotiated for conference participants. The option to share an apartment with others (you can have a private bedroom) allows you to share the cost. It also offers the opportunity to coordinate with friends and come as a group. Please refer to “Rooms” for descriptions of all available lodging options.

NOTES:

  • All units offer fully equipped kitchens, living/dining area, WiFi, DirectTV and hard line phones.
  • Bed linens and towels are provided for the duration of a guest’s stay. No daily maid service.
  • Laundry facilities, a lending library, vending machines and a stand-alone computer are available in the Hospitality Suite #9C in the Schoodic Shores Apartment Complex, which is open 24 hours/day to all guests.
  • Check-in is 3 pm; check-out is no later than 10 a.m.
  • Children: age 11 & up — Regular fee | age 6-10 — 1/2 price | under 5 — Free

Costs

The Schoodic Institute will manage all lodging reservations. Lodging will be assigned in one of the Schoodic Institute’s two- or four-bedroom apartments, cabins or efficiency suites based on number registered, requested roommates or mobility/accessibility needs. Please note that there is a 9% Maine state lodging tax. Lodging prices can range from $30 per night for a shared room in the bunkhouse all the way to $210 per night for an entire private 4-bedroom apartment. Room Check-In/Check-Out

If you are staying overnight at Schoodic, please note the following room check-in times and locations.

Friday
3 – 6:30 p.m. | Moore Auditorium at the Conference Registration Desk
After 6:30 p.m. | Campus Host Apartment #19C at the Schoodic Shores Complex

Saturday
8 – 10 a.m. | Moore Auditorium at the Conference Registration Desk
After 10 a.m. | Rockefeller Hall Welcome Center

Sunday Check-Out
Check-out on Sunday is at 10 a.m. Please leave the room key inside and lock the door as you leave.


Room Cancellations

Room and meal cancellations are subject to the Schoodic Institute’s cancellation policy. The deadline for canceling lodging or meal is Thursday, July 7. The Schoodic Institute will refund your payment minus a 10% bookkeeping fee (10% of your total amount). Any refunds will be processed by the Schoodic Institute and returned to you by check. Refunds must be requested in writing no later than Friday, July 7. There are no refunds after July 7.
